La Belle Mèche
La Belle Mèche is a French home-fragrance house that makes scented candles, reed diffusers and soaps. It was founded in 2013 by Laura and Pierre, and every fragrance in the range is composed with a perfumer in Grasse, the town on the Côte d'Azur that has been the center of French perfumery for centuries. Everything they sell is made in France.
The house
The brand did not start in a factory. Laura and Pierre launched it in Paris, then left the capital for the Drôme and built La Belle Mèche from a small village in the Diois, the hilly country between the Rhône valley and the Alps. That rural beginning still shapes the collection: the scents are meant to be simple and immediately recognizable, drawn from a vegetable garden, a pine forest, a cake cooling on the counter or a walk along the Atlantic coast.
The method is straightforward and clearly stated on each product. Candles are poured with a 100% soy-based vegetable wax, free of GMOs, and fitted with a lead-free cotton wick. A 190 g candle burns for around fifty hours. Reed diffusers use an alcohol-free base with natural rattan stems in a glass jar. The solid soaps are made in Provence from saponified sunflower, olive and coconut oils enriched with shea butter, while the liquid soaps are formulated to be more than 98% biodegradable, with fully recyclable packaging. The house describes its ambition as an accessible, sincere perfumery that respects the world around it.

- Scented candles — the floral best-seller Rose Patchouli, the garden-fresh Tomato Basil, the tangy Fig Rhubarb, and darker moods such as Peated Whisky, Balsam Fir and Cedarwood.
- Reed diffusers — the same signature accords in a slow-release format, including Orange Blossom and Blackberry Musk.
- Soaps — Provence-made solid soaps and foaming liquid soaps, such as the Mint Basil Liquid Soap.
