From Paris pastry kitchens to a spread of her own
Julie, the founder, graduated from the prestigious Ferrandi culinary school in Paris and went on to work as a pastry chef in several of the city's palace hotels. In her own time, she developed a range of chocolate and caramel spreads. They were first made for, and savored by, her family, and her recipes were so well received that demand has kept growing ever since.
Lafrenchi officially launched in 2018. Its mission is to make caramel and chocolate spreads with a clean and refined composition: scrumptious recipes with an emphasis on flavor and high-quality ingredients.
- The chocolate spreads are made with hazelnuts from France and real pastry chocolate (not cocoa powder), with no added oil.
- The caramel spreads are made with flavorful PDO Charentes-Poitou butter and French cream.
Small-batch production
The whole range is handmade in France and fully artisanal. Every step of the process is controlled in-house, which is what allows Lafrenchi to hold such a high standard of quality.
A focus on ingredients
Lafrenchi proudly buys from French farmers and suppliers. The star ingredient is French hazelnuts, and it shows in every jar.
Nuts, nuts and more nuts: 38 to 45% of every recipe
Nuts are the main ingredient in every Lafrenchi chocolate spread, which is why no oil needs to be added. Each one starts from an old-fashioned praline made with a variety of nuts, such as hazelnut, peanut or pecan.
The caramel spreads, meanwhile, are made from butter, whole cream and French sugar. Nothing more.
