L’Artisan Provençal, a family confectioner in the Var, makes its marrons glacés from a family recipe passed down by a grandmother: carefully selected chestnuts, slowly candied in a sugar syrup scented with vanilla pods. This tin, illustrated with the monuments of Paris, holds eight of them, vacuum-packed to keep them fresh. Tender to the heart, they reveal the warm, mellow sweetness of chestnut and vanilla. A charming holiday gift; once empty, the tin makes a pretty box for tea or cookies.

The Maker
L’Artisan Provençal is a family confectionery business in the Var, in Provence, and the story of Thomas: as a boy he dreamed of becoming a cook, and in the end he joined the sweet world of his grandfather, a confectioner. His grandmother passed on the family recipe notebooks, including the one for the house’s marrons glacés. The house makes its specialties day by day, from whole marrons glacés and chestnut pieces to chestnut creams and candied citrus, selecting its chestnuts one by one and candying them in a syrup with vanilla pods.
