The iconic thé à la russe was born in this cup, in the 1950s. Goût Russe Douchka Tea N°1 is the original: the very first scented tea created by Jean Jumeau-Lafond, and a cornerstone of Dammann Frères ever since. A black tea delicately scented with essential oils of bergamot, sweet orange, and lemon, it is bright, citrus-forward, and timelessly elegant, a piece of French tea history in every cup. Available in a 100g canister or in 24 individually enveloped tea bags; serve it at breakfast, with toast and citrus marmalade.

A timeless companion to breakfast, with toast and citrus marmalade. With lemon madeleines, shortbread or an orange cake. Served with smoked salmon or a light fish dish at brunch. Wonderful iced in summer, with a few slices of orange.

Recipe idea

Orange Yogurt Cake with Douchka Tea Syrup

Serves 8 · 20 min + 40 min baking

Whisk 1/2 cup (125 g) of plain yogurt with 3/4 cup (150 g) of sugar, 3 eggs, 1/2 cup (120 ml) of neutral oil and the zest of 1 orange.
Fold in 1 3/4 cups (220 g) of flour and 2 tsp of baking powder, pour into a buttered loaf pan and bake at 350°F (180°C) for about 40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
Meanwhile, brew 2 Goût Russe Douchka tea bags or 4 g of loose tea in 1/2 cup (120 ml) of water at 194°F (90°C) for 4 minutes, remove the bags or strain, then stir in 1/4 cup (50 g) of sugar until dissolved.
Prick the warm cake all over with a skewer and slowly spoon the tea syrup over it.
