In Carlux, in the heart of the Périgord Noir, Domaine de Béquignol, the family chocolatier and confectioner founded in 1972, makes its Truffinoix from a subtle blend of walnut pieces, caramel and chocolate that forms a soft center, then coats it in dark chocolate and cocoa, in the manner of a truffle. Crushed walnut kernels make up 17% of the recipe and lend their flavor to the soft, chocolatey heart. Presented in a 100g kraft box, they make a delightful gift for walnut lovers. Serve them with an espresso, or beside a glass of walnut wine.
